Flat tire by goat heads (they got me good :-(
« on: August 31, 2018, 05:05:09 AM »
Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum. I have a Sondors Fold X. Tire size is 20x4. I recently biked over a patch of goat heads and both tires went flat. It was no fun having to walk back. Any suggestions on how to make the fat tires more resistant to punctures?  Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Use the same stuff they seal tubeless - or go tubeless and use the sealant.  One of the best I have seen (survive large punctures) is Orange Seal.  About 4-6 OZ works wonders to seal any leak that occurs in your tube/tire.  Supposedly will seal up to 1/4" cuts, but I have only seen needle-sized punctures and it does the job well.  Rode through a chuya forest and had a bunch of them stuck in my 4.8" tires - was no big deal.. just stopped to break loose the balls hanging on and kept on running.  Still don't have a flat either - 40 miles on (and weeks) later.
